Directions to KLX 2008 Venues

WARNING: A section of Interstate 40 in the middle of Knoxville is CLOSED (between James White Parkway and Hall of Fame Drive).    Do not trust Google Maps or other mapping software or your GPS to navigate until you are in the immediate area of your destination. Follow the directions below. For more information on the closure, see the SmartFix40 website.

Absolute Ballroom
9119 Executive Park Dr, Knoxville TN 37923

From points east of I-40 Exit 378 (Cedar Bluff Road):
Take I-40 W to Exit 378, Cedar Bluff Road. The exit ramp ends at Executive Park Drive. Turn left on Executive Park Drive. The ballroom is in a strip mall on the right shortly after you turn.

From points west of I-40 Exit 378 (Cedar Bluff Road):
Take I-40 E to Exit 378, Cedar Bluff Road. Turn Left onto Cedar Bluff Road at the end of the exit ramp and get in the right lane. Turn Right at the traffic signal onto Executive Park Drive. The ballroom is in a strip mall on the left shortly after you turn.

Flynn Dance Center
828 Tulip Ave, Knoxville, TN 37921

To Flynn Dance Center from I-40E (from points west):
Do NOT take "Detour I-40"; remain on regular I-40 towards downtown. Take the 17th St. exit (exit 387). The exit ramp will put you onto Dale Ave. with a chemical plant on your right. Continue across 17th street at the stop light, then get in the right lane. When the road forks, take the right fork onto Blackstock Ave. After passing under the bridge, take a diagonal left on Heins St. The FDC is at the end of Heins street where it intersects Tulip Ave.

To Flynn Dance Center from I-40W (from points east):
Take "Detour I-40" to I-275 (south), then follow directions for southbound travelers below.

To Flynn Dance Center from I-75S (from points north):
At the intersection of I-75 and I-275, take I-275 (south) into Knoxville. Continue until I-275S intersects I-40 and take the I-40W exit (note: I-40W exits to the left). Be in the right lane as you merge onto I-40W. Take exit 387 (17th St.) and follow the directions above for I-40W.

Laurel Theatre
1538 Laurel Ave, Knoxville TN 37916

From points west (via I-40E):
Take I-40 E to exit 387, 17th Street. Do not take "Detour I-40". The exit 387 off-ramp will put you onto Dale Ave with a chemical plant on your right. Turn right at the next opportunity onto 17th St. At the top of the hill turn left onto Laurel Ave and begin looking for a parking lot on your right. Laurel Theatre is at the intersection of 16th St. and Laurel Avenue. It is a red building that looks like a church. There is a small amount of parking available at Laurel Theatre, but it's probably easier to find space in the parking lot on your right before you reach 16th St.

From north Knoxville
Take I-275 S. until it ends at I-40. At the intersection of I-275 S and I-40, the ramp onto I-40W (toward Nashville) exits to the left, but be in the right lane of that ramp. Once on I-40, you want to take exit 387 which is the next exit. Take the right fork of the exit ramp onto Ailor Ave. At the next stop light, turn right onto 17th St. At the top of the hill turn left onto Laurel Ave and begin looking for a parking lot on your right. Laurel Theatre is at the intersection of 16th St. and Laurel Avenue. It is a red building that looks like a church. There is a small amount of parking available at Laurel Theatre, but it's probably easier to find space in the parking lot on your right before you reach 16th St.

From points east:
If starting from east of the I-40/I-640 interchange, follow I-640 (also labeled Detour I-40) to I-275, then take I-275 S, and continue with the directions above labeled "From north Knoxville".
If starting from west of the I-40/I-640 interchange, take I-40 to Hall of Fame Drive (the last exit that is open). Turn left on Hall of Fame drive and get in the right lane. Turn right on Summit Hill Drive. After crossing Henley Street turn left on 11th Street. Take the next available right turn onto Clinch Ave. Follow Clinch Ave to 17th St. Turn right on 17th St. and take the next right turn onto Laurel Ave. Park in the parking lot on the right at the end of the block. Laurel Theatre is at the intersection of 16th and Laurel Ave, but Laurel is a one way street and the best available parking is before you get to 16th street.

St. John's Lutheran Church
544 N Broadway Knoxville TN 37917

From downtown Knoville
Go north on Henley St. Henley St. becomes Broadway. The church is approximately one mile from downtown.

From points north
Take I-275 S to the Baxter Ave exit. Turn left on Baxter Ave. Go to the intersection of Baxter and Central Ave (at a traffic light) and turn right. At the intersection of Central Ave and Broadway , turn right again. The church is about two blocks south of the intersection of Broadway and Central.

From points west
Take I-40 E to the I-275 interchange. Continue N on I-275 and get in the right lane. Take the Baxter Ave exit immediately after merging onto I-275. Turn right on Baxter Avenue. Go to the intersection of Baxter and Central Ave (at a traffic light) and turn right again. At the intersection of Central Ave and Broadway, turn right again. The church is about two blocks south.

From points east
Take I-40 W to Hall of Fame Drive. Turn left on Hall of Fame Drive at the end of the exit ramp. Turn right on Gill Ave. At the intersection of Gill and Broadway, turn left. The church is a few blocks south of that intersection.

University Center Ballroom
1502 West Cumberland Ave. Knoxville, TN 37996

To the University Center Ballroom from points west (via I-40E):
Do NOT take "Detour I-40"; remain on regular I-40 towards downtown. Take the 17th St. exit (exit 387). The exit ramp will put you onto Dale Ave. with a chemical plant on your right. Turn right at the next opportunity onto 17th St. Continue over the hill and turn left on Cumberland Ave. Go two blocks (you'll see the University Center on your right) and turn right onto Phillip Fullmer Way. To the University Center Ballroom from the north:
Take I-275 S to I-40. When I-275 intersects with I-40, take I-40 W, toward Nashville, which exits to the left. You will need to be in the right lane of that exit ramp because you exit immediately after merging onto I-40 W. Once on I-40 W, take exit 387, 17th St. As you leave the exit ramp, bear right onto Ailor Ave. Turn right at the next stoplight onto 17th Street. To the University Center Ballroom from points east (via I-40W):
As you approach Knoxville via I-40 W, DO NOT take the detour. Instead continue downtown on I-40. Take the Hall of Fame Drive exit (which is the last exit that is open). Turn right on Hall of Fame Drive at the top of the exit ramp. After passing the Magnolia Avenue intersection, be in the right lane. Turn right onto E. Summit Hill Dr. Cross the bridge and take the next left onto S. Central St. Continue on S. Central St. until it merges onto Neyland Drive. Continue on Neyland Drive until you pass under a railroad bridge, then look for Lake Loudon Blvd on your right. Turn right on Lake Loudon Blvd. Take the next right turn onto Phillip Fullmer Way. Continue until you pass the stadium on your right. Turn left onto Andy Holt Blvd. The University Center is the building to your right (on the other side of the attached parking garage), the parking lot is immediately to your left.

University Center Parking
Parking for the University Center is generally available in the lot behind the building, on the corner of Phillip Fullmer Way and Andy Holt Drive. Enter the parking lot from Andy Holt Drive. Parking in this lot is generally free during evenings and weekends unless the university has some large event scheduled. We have no control over this. There is also a parking garage attached to the University Center, the entrance to which is on Phillip Fullmer Way. There is a charge for parking in this garage.
